Wrong Camera

Came home last night after work to find Jackson practicing his dunking abilities. We have two basketball goals at our house, one set at 10' and the other set to 6'6". Jackson can almost dunk with a basketball on the short goal, if he could just palm the ball.

Well I could almost get a great photo if I could just control the shutter lag of the iPhone. I liked this shot anyway. I am reading Within The Frame by David duChemin and he says to express you vision. This is my vision of Jackson coming in for the dunk. Photo edited in The Best Camera and then I dumped the resolution down using Photogene.

Quiet Light

GeoTagged, [N35.24633, E91.71857]

Last snow shot of the day. Kinda reminds me of some photos by John Sexton from his book Quiet Light. He would wait and take photos just before all the light was gone. Now he uses 4X5 film and I am hacking away with the iPhone and a couple of Apps ( Best Camera and Photogene). Thought I would share this and let you go find John Sexton for yourself. Enjoy his images.

Pretty Parking Lot

It rained just before I left the office this afternoon. As I walked up to my car I noticed these dead brown plants at the base of the parking lot light pole. The light was coming from the back so there were nice reflections and shadows. I cleaned up the exposure with Photogene and then I ran the Helga filter on the CameraBag App. I love the iPhone camera and Photo Apps for those surprise moments of beauty that appear randomly.

Sunset at Wynne

Last night we drove over to Wynne to meet Julie's parents. We ate at the new Mazzios and celebrated Mothers Day. As you can see the sky was beautiful and with a little help from my favorite photo app ,Photogene, I was able to produce this nice sepia effect. I have really been enjoying sepia toned photos since I saw a book of animal portraits by Nick Brandt. More to come about that book soon.

I am hoping to be a little more regular in my postings now that school is out for the summer. I have to shoot HU Graduation today. One shot of each of the 500 plus students that walks in about an hour and a half. . Probably my most stressful photo job of the year from a technical point of view. There is no room for error. Hence I am blogging at 6:40 instead of sleeping.
